Copying photos, music or movies from the internet is as easy as point and click. However, just because it's easy, does not mean it is legal. Discuss this statement in relation to Australia’s copyright law.
Copyright- Copyright is a type of legal protection for people who express ideas and information in certain forms so that they are able to express themesleves while writing or acting out as something. The most common forms are: writing, visual images, music and videos. Copyright protects the form or way an idea or information is expressed, not the idea or information itself.
Copyright Act 1968- Copyright exists in works and other subject-matter by good value of the Copyright Act 1968. The only exception to this is in relation to certain limited privilege rights of the Crown in respect of copyright in Acts of Parliament.
Regulations- The Copyright Regulations 1969, the Copyright Tribunal (Procedure) Regulations 1969 and the Copyright (International Protection) Regulations 1969 specify matters related to the operation of the Copyright Act.
Access to the law- The Copyright Act and Regulations are constantly under review and are amended from time to time. Access to electronic versions of Commonwealth legislation is available through the Attorney-General's Department’s legal information retrieval system.
Downloading images, movies and videos from the internet is not illegal; these things can be downloaded and used for the purpose of entertainment. However if these objects have been used for the purpose of selling them and making a profit then this operation becomes illegal for the users that are doing so.
2. Identify measures your school takes to protect your information privacy?
• Each student is given a username and password so that the people can not steal other peoples information.
• The teachers have special software that always them to see the type of work the students are performing and if they are not peforming the right work then they have the right to switch off the person's computer.
• The students also write an agreement that says they must follow the schools policies and must not attempt to do someth illegal.
